The tea whisk is indispensable for mixing Matcha with hot water. Great Matcha requires an equally great Chasen, crafted by hand from carefully selected bamboo. The Chasen is skillfully hand-carved from a single piece of bamboo so that it won't warp or break easily.

Note
Before each use, wet the tip of the bamboo with hot water, before whisking. It prevents breakage during whisking because water makes the bamboo tips and bristles overall more flexible and durable.
After using the whisk, rinse it only with hot water in the sink and let it dry. Do not use soap or detergent.
* Do not store in the plastic cylinder the whisk came with, rather let it dry with open-air and then put it back.
